How we use assessment data

These tools help you explore your own possibilities. When you finish, selected planning preferences and relevant recommendations are sent to Netlify Forms so we can understand our audience, improve resources, inform book marketing, and explore useful future services. We may share aggregated findings with potential partners, with sample sizes and context. We do not sell contact details or individual family profiles.

What is collected

Readiness records contain your journey stage, main barrier, and planning timeframe, not your 15 statement answers or factor scores. The Cost Calculator records family traveller counts, broad child age bands, travel preferences, the currency and preferred budget band, and calculated monthly ranges. Destination Finder records broad age bands, interests, place size and surroundings, community preferences, any gathering dates you choose, journey duration, and suggestions. Destinations you save are recorded separately from suggestions.

Education Explorer records the age band for the one child being considered, selected educational preferences, and suggested approaches. A one-child assessment does not tell us the family’s size. The question about how much help the child needs and the optional support preferences are excluded from research submissions. Optional resource interests are collected only when you submit that refinement.

Family Life Reflection keeps its six private reflection answers, priorities, observations, and wellbeing-related information in this browser. Only your final worldschooling next-interest choice is included in the research record. No detailed reflection answers are sent by the new collection code.

Country and session information

Country of residence is asked with a “Prefer not to say” choice and remembered for the browser session to avoid asking repeatedly. You can change it beside the question. A random session identifier helps distinguish activity within that browser session; it does not identify a unique family or connect different devices. Records include random response and run identifiers, scenario and revision numbers, the assessment version, dates, a test-record flag, and campaign labels where supplied. Follow-up choices update the same response through versioned records.

Assessment records contain no name or email. Netlify may separately process IP addresses and technical information for its service and spam protection, so the records should not be described as fully anonymous. Results remain available if a research submission fails. A research reference is shown with the results to help with enquiries.

Locally saved progress

The eight-question Family Life Reflection and Education Explorer save the current answers and progress in this browser for up to 30 days from the last interaction when storage is available. Someone using the same browser may be able to resume them. Clear saved progress using the opening screen’s control, or start again. Exploring another child replaces the current child’s locally saved summary; print or save it first. Old-version progress is not reused as answers to new questions.

Retention

Our policy is to retain individual research records for up to three years and retain useful aggregated summaries longer. New records carry a review date three years after submission. Automated deletion is not yet active; until the reporting automation is installed, the website owners must review and remove expired records in Netlify. Older records collected before this update remain separate and require review under the same policy. Browser clear controls do not delete submissions already received.

Optional worldschooling ideas and updates

When you choose to subscribe, we collect your email and optional first name through Kit, our email platform. Kit sends a confirmation email; you must click its confirmation link to complete a new subscription. We also retain a signup request record through Netlify. Every signup requests the starter guide, worldschooling ideas, and book updates. The starter guide can be downloaded after an accepted signup request and from the confirmation page. Download access is not a check of confirmed subscription status. Invitations describe occasional practical ideas and book updates. We record the invitation source, page, consent wording and version, submission identifier, and any campaign labels, along with a submission time. Netlify also records when it receives the request. These help us understand which resources prompt signups and retain a record of the request.

The signup form does not include your assessment answers, scores, recommended destinations, or assessment response identifier. A signup source tells us which tool or page you used; it does not attach your individual report. Kit sends the confirmation email automatically. Monthly newsletters and occasional book announcements will include an unsubscribe link managed by Kit. A separate automated welcome series is not currently enabled. Signup sources and consent records are retained in Netlify; they are not currently mapped to Kit tags or custom fields. Contact details and individual family responses are not offered to advertisers through these tools.

Recognizing a signup in this browser

After a successful signup request, we may store a simple flag in this browser for up to 90 days so you see a thank-you message instead of repeated invitations. The flag contains no email address or name. It is not proof of your current mailing-list status and is not shared across devices. You can choose “Use another email” on an invitation or clear this website’s browser data. The old assessment feature that remembered contact details is no longer used.

Contact messages

The Contact form sends your name, email address, and message to Netlify so we can respond. Sending a contact message does not subscribe you. Contact notifications and subscription requests are separate.

Website measurement

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity help us understand website use. Our four standardized assessment events do not include names, emails, answers, scores, destinations, budget preferences, or child-support choices. Google Analytics may also measure page views and public link interactions according to the account settings. We measure assessment starts, completions, accepted signup requests, and resource clicks separately; successful research storage and confirmed email subscriptions are different measures. Assessment content is masked for session recording. Test mode suppresses analytics and session recording. Campaign labels may be kept for the browser session to show which links bring visitors to the tools. Completion and resource-click events measure use of the site; a click on a retailer link does not establish a book purchase.

Access and enquiries

Assessment responses and signup request records are available to the website owners through their Netlify account. Subscription details and status are managed through their Kit account. Aggregate findings describe visitors who used these tools, not all worldschooling families. A response submitted without contact details may be difficult to locate. Clearing your browser data removes locally saved progress and signup recognition from this device but does not delete submissions already received by the website owners.

For questions about your information or to request deletion of information you have submitted, use our contact form. For a research record, include its reference and approximate completion date. For subscription enquiries, include the email address you used.
